WhatsApp on Windows: a 2-minute check

Before anything else, this quick check just confirms whether WhatsApp's data is set up on this PC. It's completely safe: it reads no messages, needs no admin rights, installs nothing, and changes nothing. It just answers one question, and saves a short report you send back.

Totally safe. This only looks at whether certain files exist and what version of WhatsApp you have. It does not open, read, copy, or send any of your messages. It writes one small text report to your Desktop, nothing else.
1

Make sure WhatsApp is set up on this PC

2

Save the check file

Save the wa-precheck.ps1 file that was sent to you somewhere easy, your Downloads folder is fine.

3

Open PowerShell in that folder

4

Run the check

Copy this line, paste it into the blue window (right-click pastes), press Enter:

powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\wa-precheck.ps1

It runs instantly and prints a short report.

5

Send back the report

That's the whole check. Based on what the report shows, we'll tell you the next step, if any.
